Join the Birmingham Originals at Pepper Place Sunday, Oct. 20 for the 17th annual Breakin’ Bread! Enjoy a day filled with unlimited food sampling along with craft beer and wine, a makers’ market comprised of local craftsmen, a kid’s zone with special activities for children, live musical entertainment and more!
Supporting local is important to the Birmingham Originals – from the locally-sourced ingredients all the way up to the locally-born and raised chefs who cook them, Breakin’ Bread features a flavor that is quintessentially southern, and quintessentially Birmingham. That’s why including a makers' market for this year’s festival was a no-brainer. Now, at Breakin’ Bread you’ll not only enjoy delicious local bites and beverages, but you’ll also have the pleasure of browsing and purchasing locally made crafts and creations from some of the South’s best makers and craftsmen.
Since 2002, Birmingham Originals has donated more than $135,000 to local charitable organizations benefiting children and families in the greater Birmingham area. Proceeds from Breakin' Bread 2019 will support the Birmingham Originals Grant Program, awarding scholarships to individuals pursuing an education in the culinary arts as well as providing assistance for local entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry. Just one of the ways Birmingham Originals invests in the continued growth of the local food culture!
Established in 2003, Breakin’ Bread was named as a signature experience for “The Year of Alabama Food” by the Alabama Board of Tourism and was most recently included among the 21 Best Food and Drink Festivals in North America by Flight Network. This event is also counted as one of the Top 10 Attractions in Alabama.
