This year, Breakin’ Bread, Birmingham Originals’ flagship event, is going back to its roots. Now, enjoying the finest cuisine and beverages in Birmingham will take place at the same cozy, local hub for southern flavor at which it all began – Pepper Place. Supporting local is important to the Birmingham Originals – from the locally-sourced ingredients all the way up to the locally-born and raised chefs who cook them, Breakin’ Bread features a flavor that is quintessentially southern, and quintessentially Birmingham. That’s why partnering with Southern Makers for this year’s festival was a no-brainer. Now, at Breakin’ Bread you’ll not only enjoy delicious local bites and beverages, but you’ll also have the pleasure of browsing and purchasing locally made crafts and creations from some of the south’s most storied – and most southern – makers.
So, when Sunday, Oct. 14, rolls around, make your way to Pepper Place for the South’s premier food, wine and beer festival. This year, over 30 of the Magic City’s favorite local establishmentsreturn to this historic location to showcase their culinary talents and delight the taste buds with their signature dishes! One day, one location, all at an amazing price with proceeds benefiting JVTF's Urban Farm Project.
Since 2002, Birmingham Originals has donated more than $125,000 to local charitable organizations benefiting children and families in the greater Birmingham area. The organizationbegan partnering with JVTF two years ago at the inception of the Urban Farm Project. Since then, JVTF has been able to hire two full-time students as employees for the Urban Farm Project, as well as award several college scholarships, thanks in part to proceeds from Breakin’ Bread.
